Recreatiepark Brugse Heide***
The holiday park Brugse Heide is one of the smaller campsites managed by an organisation owning many campsites in this region. Yet there's everything for an enjoyable holiday.
There's a good swimming pool and a shallow pool for children. You have a good view of this from the on-site café, which has been built in the local style of the Brabant region. The entertainment is Brabant-style too, friendly and yet sometimes boisterous. Around 44 kilometres further south in Belgium is a large tropical pool paradise at a campsite called Hengelhoef. Guests at Brugse Heide may use this free of charge.
The easy going atmosphere of this region makes Brabant a good place for a pleasant holiday. It's a good bicycling area too, where stopping en-route to enjoy a coffee at a café in one of the villages is almost as pleasant as the bike ride itself. Valkenswaard lays south of Eindhoven, close to the Belgian border. It's a pleasant place for shopping but is also good for walking, bicycling or canoeing. Nearby are the villages Veldhoven, and Waalre but, for a wider choice of shops, Eindhoven is close by. Eindhoven is the fifth largest city in the Netherlands and since the start of the last century, it is Holland's 'city of light' with the large Philips factory in the centre. If you are looking for peace and quiet the countryside of Leenderbos is beautiful, as is the valley of the Dommel river. An idea for a day trip with the children is the textile museum in Geldrop. Theme park Plopsa Indoor Hasselt is 50km and Moviepark Germany is 109km away.
