De Vuurtoren*
Situated in a central spot, just 800 metres from a long sandy beach, 1km from the city centre of Heist and 4km from Knokke. The train station is only a few minutes walk away too. Campsite De Vuurtoren (the lighthouse) is in a fantastic location for a family beach holiday with a spot of culture thrown in. There's all the modern facilities you would expect including a large playground for children. In the evenings enjoy a stroll down the boulevard or perhaps try your luck in the casino.
Knokke-Heist is made up of two villages on the North Sea coast just north of Zeebrugge. Next to Knokke-Heist is a lovely nature reserve known as 'Het Zwin', which also borders the Netherlands. Wide sandy beaches make up the coastline here. There is a historic tram line that was founded in 1885 which will take you from Knokke-Heist all the way down to De Panne near the French border. You can hop on or off at any beach or village. In addition great beaches, the Flemish coast has some excellent theme parks. Knokke-Heist has a large butterfly garden, Blankenberge has a Sea Life park and at Oostende the Earth Explorer park is where the family can experience the forces of nature. Enjoy a bicycle ride to the nearby city of Damme and admire the beauty of Bruges. Whatever you do, don't forget to have a relaxing day on the great beaches here.
