De Berckt****
Olden times of chivalry come to the forefront at this large campsite. The setting lets the children imagine they are knights of the realm or perhaps a fair maiden in a castle. The entertainment is very medieval-style too.

The restaurant takes you back in time and you can dine in the 'Silver Horse Inn' or have a snack in a café called 'The Dragon's Nest'. Both young and old are entertained throughout the day and also in the evenings, but that's not to say there's no time for a quiet moment with a good book. Brave knights also like swimming there's a pool paradise with a streaming 'castle moat' and the waterslide is shaped like a wild fire-spitting dragon. The younger knights-to-be can enjoy pirate adventures in their own pool. Although these facilities may revive olden times, the sauna, hot whirlpool and Turkish bath all offer a nice touch of modern-day luxury.

You will find the Leisure Park De Berckt close to the river Maas (Meuse) in the village Baarlo in the region of Limburg. Its name was inspired by the nearby medieval castle De Berckt, but this is not the only castle in this area. The Maas valley has more of these, like the De Raay castle and the castle d'Erp. In the surrounding area many villages were built around former fortresses, and they are all worth a visit. You can also take the small ferry across the river Maas and visit the cloister village of Steijl. Cycling and walking are excellent activites to enjoy in the Dubbroek countryside or in one of the beautiful forests in the area. For younger children there's the covered playground of Toverland (Magic land) near Sevenum. Plopsa indoor Hasselt is 41km and Moviepark Germany is 64km away.
