Beau Rivage (Dordogne)***
Although it's not easy to find a sandy beach along the Dordogne river, camping Beau Rivage has one! It's ideal for playing, sunbathing and canoeing. The campsite is small and quiet with a pleasant atmosphere. In addition to the lovely setting beside the Dordogne, the facilities are excellent. There's a pool with a seperate children's pool, a bar/restaurant which also provides a takeaway service and playground for small children. For parents there's a tennis court and a boulés area for a game of pétanque.

Along the narrow shore between the Dordogne river and the high rocks is La Roque Gageac. This small city began to develop in medieval times when people built along the rock wall. A long, narrow city was created as a result boasting quaint, colourful streets, majestic manors and a fortress from the 12th century. Many people still think this bend in the Dordogne is one of the most beautiful parts. The charming city of Domme is located on the opposite side. It is set on a rock beside the river that is 150 metres high and offers a fantastic view over the Dordogne. Domme still holds on to its medieval charm and has three city gates. Only a few kilometres to the north is Sarlat, which is well-known for its weekly market. This is the district of Périgord Noir, called 'Noir' for the colour of the black truffle that attracts so many food experts to the area. Canoeing is a popular pastime here with tours suitable for the whole family.
